  • Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes: Its saturated purple/plum color is followed by classic Mount Veeder notes of sagebrush and bay leaf as well as ample blackcurrant and plum fruits, graphite, smoke tobacco and earth. On the palate the wine has elegance and purity, ripe tannins and terrific balance.

  • Story

Flights Wine Company prides itself on producing "World Class One - Off Wines"

With 15 years in all aspects of the wine industry, Neil Koch, founder of Flight Wine Company, has created exclusive agreements with wine producers throughout California, Oregon and Washington. Through these networks, Koch is able source small lots of high end wines and offer them at reasonable price.

Flights Wine Company focuses on delivering sub AVA wines at an incredible value. Typically bottlings are around 100 to 500 cases, and once there gone, they are gone.

  • Somm Notes

I was initially introduced to Neil Koch's wines with his "The Dude" Label that he co-produces with Canepa. His Dude wines are perfect crowd pleasers - they offer that fruit character that makes it easy drinking, but just enough complexity to make it interesting.

The Thread Feather's label is more his own project - they are not only world class wines, but also rare as production is low - this one is only 328 cases!

For me, this makes for a great gift for that one wine drinker who says they've heard of that wine - chances are they haven't hear of these guys, well not yet, at least.

  • Region

Vineyard Location: Located 3 miles southwest of Oakville,in the famed Napa Valley, 1000 feet above sea level, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Veeder, where an exceptional confluence of great soil and climate create great wines unlike any other.

Winemaking: Grapes were handpicked, sorted and optically sorted. After a 3-day cold soak, and 14 day fermentation with extended skin contact the wine was moved into 100% French oak, 30% new oak.
